The release of the new Xbox One dashboard is just a few days away, and it comes with an exciting feature. Usually, there's a downside to system upgrades like this. Games from the previous console become obsolete, which leaves avid gamers in a tough spot.
But the bright side of the new Xbox One dashboard is that 104 Xbox 360 games will still be compatible, which means owners of Microsoft's new console will still be able to play old multiplayer Xbox games with friends that own an Xbox 360.
It was rumored at first, but Microsoft just released a list of Xbox 360 games that will be playable on Xbox One. Here are some examples of the titles you can expect:
- Assassin's Creed II
- BattleBlock Theater
- Bejeweled 2
- Castle Crashers
- Doom & Doom II
- Dungeon Siege III
- Gears of War 1, 2 & 3
- Halo Spartan Assault
- LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
- Mass Effect
- Mirror's Edge
- Monkey Island 1 & 2 (Special Editions)
So far, the list is comprised of several older titles. But Mike Ybarra, director of program management for Xbox, says this is just the beginning."You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December."
It is projected that additional titles might include games like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, etc. Gamers will learn more in the coming months.
