This holiday season, someone on your shopping list is going to be asking for wearable tech, whether it's a smartwatch or a fitness tracker. Those trackers are usually brightly colored bands that track how many steps you walk.
Some of them track the calories you burn and your sleep patterns. Plus, if you don't mind spending quite a bit of money, you can monitor your heartbeat.
However, for about $16, you may soon be able to monitor your heartbeat in real time with Xiaomi's Mi Band Pulse from China. (Some competing heart trackers cost $100 or more.) It uses photoelectric light perception to monitor your heart rate.
That's serious but it looks cute, with thin, colorful bands. (See photo.) They're lightweight, too, at 13.5 grams (0.47 ounces).
For now, Mi Band Pulse will be available starting this week only in China. It may be available soon in other countries. Meantime, if you're looking for great gift ideas, check out The Shop. There, you'll find great deals on tech gadgets, security systems, accessories and much more.
Note: The original Mi Band is available on Amazon.
