Sick of annoying YouTube ads? You're not alone. There's a digital revolution going on, one that is seeing more and more people pay for services, just so they can enjoy everything ad-free.
Apple jump-started the movement with iOS 9, Hulu recently started offering ad-free subscriptions and the latest to jump on the ad-free train is YouTube.
The subscription service, known as YouTube Red, sees users pay $9.99 per month for unlimited, ad-free video streaming, and the ability to download videos for offline viewing.
Better yet, YouTube Red members will have access to YouTube's original programs that are currently in the works. YouTube's goal is to begin to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime in the streaming video arena.
But here's the catch. For some reason, if you sign up for YouTube Red on your iPhone or iPad, you won't get changed the standard $9.99. Instead you will be paying $12.99 per month.
This is because Apple charges an extra 30% on all payments processed with iTunes. We've seen this happen before with Spotify subscriptions.
That being said, you can sign up for a YouTube Red membership by clicking here, just be sure to not purchase through iTunes!
