Whether you love to travel often or just occasionally take a trip by air, you know you're going to run into hidden fees. It almost doesn't matter which airline you take: You're going to pay fees for luggage, your in-flight meal, headphones, and even the seat you want.
But, as frustrating as fees are, they're not as frustrating as trying to figure out what you will and won't have to pay for ahead of time. If you've booked a flight online, you know booking sites aren't much help.
You can dig around for luggage fees, but beyond that you're going to find out on the plane what else you're paying for. That's about to change, thanks to Expedia, which also owns Orbitz and Travelocity.
The reservation site is displaying many fees included in your price, and the ones that aren't. It's showing fees for things like snacks and luggage, and whether or not they're included in your ticket price.
You can also compare your options. For instance, you might find a flight for $350 that includes snacks, but not luggage or your seat choice. On that same flight, you may find a first-class seat for $500 that includes lunch, your luggage and free Wi-Fi. Maybe that extra price is worth it for you. But the best part? No surprises.
