If you're looking for a romantic partner, the Internet has plenty of online dating sites you can try. Then there's mega-app Tinder, which every day sees people swiping through 1.9 billion profiles and has allegedly matched 9 billion potential partners.
However, one couple go their happily ever after a bit differently. This romantic story of true love goes way back to 2009, when flip phones were still popular, Tinder wasn't even a dream and online dating was still something only desperate people did. It begins on a still-growing social media site called Facebook.
It started with a cellphone glitch. As Schuyler Benson tells his story on the photo sharing site Imgur, he was surprised one day to find out that he was logged into someone else's social media profile. He just flipped open his cellphone, logged into Facebook and there it was.
That person, Celeste Zendler, was a complete stranger to him. Even worse, he couldn't get out of her profile. He was posting messages and alerts, like "wondering who the hell Celeste is and why I'm logged into her FB account." Schuyler's Facebook posts, which appeared to be coming from Celeste, caught the attention of her social media friends.
