Facebook is rolling out five changes for user profiles starting today, and one of the features is pretty cool. Instead of a single image for your profile picture, you can have a seven-second video - like a GIF - for your profile pic.
More on that in a minute. First some of the other new features: You can have a temporary profile pic, set to revert to your permanent one after a day or a week. For those who like to celebrate #TBT, or Throwback Thursday, this could come in handy.
You can also pin Featured Photos to the top of your profile, giving friends - or potential friends - a little more context about you and your life. There's also a new 100 character Bio field to tell people more about yourself. And the design is mobile-centric, with the profile photos in the center and big sections for other photos.
But back to the seven-second video profile pics. They're almost like the moving photos in the newspapers in Harry Potter. We expect people will have a lot of fun with this feature. Let us know what you think about the new photo features in Facebook in the comments below.
