The new iPhone 6s comes out in stores today, and people have been waiting in line for days already. But not just people have been waiting patiently for the new gadget ...
An iPad was also waiting in line for its cousin to come out, while the operator of the iPad gets to go on with her daily routine.
Lucy Kelly of Sydney, Australia, is the genius behind using a robot to stand in line for her, but the media company she works for, Atomic 212, is the mastermind behind the idea of combining a tablet and a Segway in the first place.
The company uses these mobile robots, created by Double Robotics, in the office to conduct meetings when traveling, video chat and show outsiders around the property. The operator only needs to connect with an app and then they are able to be there more physically than they would over a simple video chat conversation.
"I wanted to be one of the first people to have the iPhone 6s, but obviously because of work I can't spend two days standing in line waiting for a mobile phone," she explained to Mashable Australia. "So my boss said 'Just take the robot down, you'll still be able to do your work, but you'll still be waiting in line.'"
What a sweet deal!
Lucy was fourth in line for the iPhone 6s release and by now, she already has her shiny new smartphone. Lindsay Handmer, who was first in line, had been waiting for over 17 days.
Now that's commitment.
Would you stand in line for that long or would you take a lesson from Lucy and snag a robot to do your waiting for you? Tell me by leaving a note in the comments section below.
