This malware app blackmails you for watching porn

There's a dangerous new malware Android app that is disguised as a way to watch porn on your tablet or phone. If you download and use it, it takes a picture of you on the front-facing camera and uses it to extort money from you.

The app lures you into using it by pretending it's just there for pornographic videos. But when it's opened, it snaps a photo of you and a message demanding $500 pops up. Your Android is then locked up.

A security company named Zscaler discovered the ransomware, but didn't name the app. However, there's an easy way to keep your smartphones safe from malicious apps.

Always download your apps from the official app store - for Android, that's Google Play, and for iPhones, it's the App Store. These are screened and approved by Google and Apple.
