Who wants to wear a bulky, uncomfortable sensor on your wrist to track your sleep? Most people don't like wearing jewelry on their body overnight. That's why this new sleep sensor seems like a no-brainer.
Samsung's new SleepSense is shaped like a paddle and goes under your mattress to track your sleep habits. It detects vibrations, and can measure your heart rate, breathing and movement. SleepSense uses a Bluetooth connection to send the information to your smartphone, and it gives you a sleep score that you can use to compare your sleep over time.
But that's not all SleepSense is meant for. It was introduced along with Samsung's new SmartThings smart hub, which connects to devices around your house. The connectivity of Internet-enabled devices is known as the Internet of Things.
Connected to the SmartThings hub, the SleepSense could detect when you're falling asleep and turn the lights or TV off, or crank up the A/C. And when you wake in the morning, it could turn the coffee maker on. That sounds pretty awesome to us.
