Taking selfies is so commonplace, and fun, it seems everyone these days is stretching out their arms to take pictures of themselves. In fact, selfies are so popular that "selfie" is now in the dictionary.
But a Texas teenager recently proved that taking selfies can go too far. He combined the fun of selfies with the very real danger of mishandling a gun. Of course, guns are dangerous and should always, without exception, be treated as if they are loaded.
Unfortunately, this 19-year-old Houston man accidentally shot and killed himself while taking a selfie of himself holding a gun. More tragic, this young man, who was to start college this week, was the father of two young children.
If this tragedy proves anything, it's this. If you have a gun in the house, have everyone in the house trained to handle it safely.
