If you're worried about the magnetic waves that your smartphone is giving off, the video below showing how it affects insects isn't going to ease your mind. On the video, hundreds of ants seem to be endlessly circling around a ringing smartphone.
No one knows why, but the fear is that those magnetic waves are messing up the way insects and animals communicate with one another. That could include humans.
Don't panic quite yet. Some entomologists say the ants are simply displaying natural behavior. They follow each other by smelling pheromones. In fact, some ants can't even see. So they follow one another, and sometimes get off track, and end up walking in an endless circle. Until they die!
Other scientists note that ants "read" the Earth's magnetic fields, to get oriented north, south, east and west. So, the phone's magnetic signals may, in fact, be messing with nature.
But there's one other thing to consider. This video could be a fake. One scientist notes that it doesn't look in this video like the ants have legs. Do you think it's a hoax? Let us know in Comments.
