Microsoft wasn't kidding when it said it wanted to break out of its shell. It wants its software on every platform, including its rivals. Now you can even get one of the best Windows 10 features on your Android phone or tablet.
If you like Apple's Siri and Android's "OK, Google" function, you'll love this.
Microsoft just came out with an official Cortana personal assistant for Android app. After months of secret developing and beta testing, the smart assistant program is ready to be downloaded on Android gear.
With Cortana, you can surf the Internet, set reminders for upcoming activities, track your incoming flight and much more. But since this app isn't totally done with tweaks and fixes, you'll need to get the public beta, or test, version.
There are a few drawbacks to Cortana if you're already used to Google's smart assistant on your Android. The first issue is that you can't simply say "OK, Google" from any screen to start your search. You have to go into the app and start your request there.
The second major issue is that since Cortana isn't interwoven in the Android system, a lot of the key functions you're used to with Google Now, like accessing your apps or adjusting your settings, just isn't possible.
Microsoft is working to address these issues as well as striving to come out with a Cortana for Apple version sometime in the near future. We'll let you know about all the latest Cortana and Microsoft 10 news on our site, so stay tuned to what's Happening Now for the most recent information.
