Drones are more popular than ever now that they're getting less expensive and easier to fly. But they're also more unpopular as people worry about drones spying on their privacy. Lots of folks want to take matters into their own hands and shoot down nosy drones.
Now there's a special ammo to do it.
The rounds created by the Snake River Shooting company are a 12 gauge, 3-inch shot shell designed specifically to take down drones at high altitudes.
“We are very excited to be manufacturing a product focused on defending our freedoms. We see this line as a game changer in the industry and as an important defense against rising threats to our way of life,” stated Casey Betzold, president of Snake River Shooting Products, on the Ammoland site.
Even though the ammunition exists to shoot these drones down, that doesn't mean you should go stock up and take aim. Shooting a drone down is against the law in most states and can result in thousands of dollars in fines and even years of jail time.
The main exception for this law is if the drone is posing an immediate threat to your safety or your land. This means that the drone must be flying in an aggressive manner, under the allotted height requirements (generally under 200 feet) or outfitted with a weapon like the one seen here.
