Apple versus Android. We hear that sentence a lot and that's because there are stark differences between the two smartphone categories. But according to Yelp, the differences don't just stop at the manufacturing of the phone. They actually extend to users themselves.
Would you know if an iPhone or Android user is more likely to search for the word "yoga?" Or what about "Starbucks?"
Well after months of analyzing data, Yelp has come up with some pretty interesting data that shows just how deep the divide between Apple and Android owners really is.
According to its research, Yelp found that Android owners are more concerned about finding a good deal than Apple owners. The word "deals" was ranked as the 24th most searched word for Android owners and 221st for iPhone. The same was the case for words like "cheap" and "discount."
Conversely, "luxury" was something that iPhone users cared more about. Things like "luxury nail salons" and "luxury hotels" were searched much more on iPhones than they were on Androids. Starbucks was also at the top of iPhone users' search list, ranking 15 as compared to Android users' rank of 30.
Despite their differences, Apple and Android owners do have some things in common. Both types of smartphone users love their cup o' joe - coffee was the top non-food item searched on Yelp. And they both love sushi, pizza and restaurants that deliver. Who doesn't?
