Do you remember the 10 commandments for Mobile Manners? Constantly checking your phone during face-to-face interactions with others is not only a huge pet peeve but it's a behavior that could be ruining dinnertime for millions of families across the globe.

With that in mind, you've got to see these new placemats from Ikea. As part of its limited edition "SITTNING Collection" available in September 2015, these ingenious placemats have an attached pouch or pocket that shields your phone screen from your eyes. Take a look below to see the page straight out of Ikea's September 2015 catalogIkea placemats

The product description reads:

"Even though most of us enjoy the physical meeting with friends, more and more people are bringing their smartphones with them to the dining table. So why not hide them in a pocket at least? Put them away for a while and let go of the constant checking of social media updates. That’s what the textile designer Maria Vinka and the product developer team thought of when designing the SITTNING place mat. After all, the idea with the collection is a celebration of being together. To share something more than just a meal."

What do you think about these placemats? Are they enough to save the family dinner as we know it? Or is the easy answer "Just turn the phone off." What do you do to stop phones from ruining your dinners? Let me know by posting in the comments below.
