Windows users listen up! Microsoft just released an out-of-band update for ALL versions of Windows for a vulnerability that, according to Microsoft, could allow hackers to use untrusted Web pages to "install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights."
In other words, this vulnerability could leave your computer wide open for hackers to take over.
What should you do? If your Windows machine is set for Automatic Updates, you should be covered. If you want to check manually, click the Windows logo button on your keyboard and type in "Windows Update." Then, select "Windows Update" from the Settings list.
Next, you can click the "check for updates" link on the left side of the Windows Update window to instruct your computer to manually search for these updates. When the search is complete, click on the optional updates link to view the updates available for your operating system.
To get the updates, click the checkmark next to each update you wish to install. Click the "Install" button to finish the process.
