In the tech world, the second Tuesday of every month is also known as Update Tuesday. It's the day each month Microsoft releases security fixes and program updates for Windows, Office and its other products.
Other software companies like Adobe have jumped on the bandwagon as well, and you'll often see updates from them as well. This month, Microsoft and Adobe are joined by Oracle with a Java update, and it's a good thing because all of these need updating right away.
That's because earlier this month the shady Italian company Hacking Team was hacked itself and 400 gigabytes of its secret information was released online. In that information was a library of unpatched exploits the company used to break into computers around the world.
Prior to this week, Adobe had already fixed two with more still being discovered, and flaws are surfacing for other software as well. This Update Tuesday's releases fixes some of those flaws.
