The early bird gets the worm, right? Well that's Samsung's thinking this year.

The Korean cellphone manufacturer is pushing the release date of the newest version of its iconic smartphone, the Galaxy Note, to mid-August. According to sources close to the release, the company is doing this to distance itself from the release of the iPhone 6 Plus.

iPhones are traditionally released in the early Fall and, because of this, Samsung thinks the iPhone is stealing the attention away from the Galaxy Note.

The Note's release has always been trumped by the release of the wildly popular iPhone and Samsungs want to change that this year. I think it will be hard to beat the sales of the iPhone, but if Samsung hits the ground running before Apple, it may just be possible!

No Samsung officials have commented on this yet but I'll let you know as soon as they do. Do you think the Galaxy Note has the capability to surpass the iPhone or are Samsung's effort futile?
