Using cell service in our neighboring countries to the north and south can be an expensive venture. Remember that kid who tried to stream a video on his dad's phone in Canada and was hit with a $17,000 bill? Unless you are able to connect to Wi-Fi, using your smartphone or tablet outside of the United States may be out of the question while on vacation or a business trip.
That's all changed now that T-Mobile has announced that it's expanding its coverage to both Mexico and Canada at no extra charge to its customers. The service will be included in the Simple Choice plan and will be effective on July 15.
The Simple Choice plan is only $50 a month and customers get unlimited talk, text and data, as well as 1 gigabyte of 4G LTE data. And now, T-Mobile users will be able to stream, call and text in over 30 Canadian and 100 Mexican cities.
Even though T-Mobile won't say what companies it's working with specifically, we know the telecommunications company was able to strike a nice deal with major cell service providers in both of the countries.
The news of an expanded foreign network is great for the 59 million T-Mobile users. If you have T-Mobile, let me know how you feel about this service addition by leaving a comment below.
