Whatever your thoughts on the 2nd Amendment, seeing someone walking around with a handgun sticking out of their pocket is going to grab your attention, especially if they reach for it with people around. Unfortunately, this new phone case could give that impression and police officers are not happy about it.
Police departments around the United States are warning people not to buy this cellphone case with a realistic-looking gun grip. They're worried it could lead officers into thinking you're reaching for a weapon instead of your smartphone.
"Our job is difficult as it is and when you add something like this (gun grip case), to the equation it's another thing that makes it even more difficult," Lt. Mike Pooley from the Tempe, AZ Police Department told a local news outlet.
Another department across the country agrees about the potential danger. "It's a terrible idea, and it's very dangerous," New Jersey state police said on their official Facebook page. "We strongly recommend that you do not use this product," they urged followers.
Officers normally have only seconds to respond to emergency situations and this cellphone case can easily confuse a police officer ready to protect themselves and other citizens around them.
It's only a matter of time before an innocent person is shot or killed after confusing police officers with their poor choice of phone case. But what do you think about this? Let me know by leaving a note in the comments section below.
