I told you about remote-control cars and the latest drones, but this RC gadget takes the cake. Now you don't just get to fly this thing remotely, you get to be in it while it flies!
I'm talking about the Volocopter. This German-created gadget ran an unmanned test flight in 2013 and is ready to give a manned test flight a go very shortly. The Volocopter operates a lot like a drone.
That means instead of the typical dual-thrusters in a normal helicopter, the Volocopter uses 18 motors spread out around the copter to lift it and move it in certain directions. The Volocopter can travel for 20 minutes at a time right now, but developers are hoping to lengthen that with new prototypes.
The developers made sure the Volocopter is a "green" technology. It runs completely off of battery power, releasing absolutely no fuel emissions into the air. There's confirmation that the Volocopter will be fully equipped with high-tech camera gear, too.
