Have you seen Google's adorable little cars? They're fully automated, self-driving vehicles. They look kind of weird, but also kind of cute. You have to see them. Now they're officially out on the open road.
It may seem strange, the idea of kicking back and watching a movie on your way to work, but it may be closer to reality than you though. Google has been testing these self-driving cars in small communities in California and they're getting a lot of attention.
These panda-shaped vehicles can only travel at 25 mph and require a driver to be behind the wheel at all times. So don't worry! The driver is armed with a removable steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedal so they can control the car at a moment's notice.
As if the vehicles weren't unique enough, Google wants to spice up the design of the interior. The innovative company is hosting a statewide contest for California artists to come up with the best, most creative designs.
I told you about this when the project was first released and it seems like it's going to be a reality before we know it. This new type of technology seems to be catching on with companies like Lexus and Land Rover, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.
I want to know what you think about these panda cars. Do you think they're the best thing to hit the road since hybrids or do you think they're going to be dangerous self-propelled machines? Let me know what you think by leaving me a comment below.
