It's not what you think it is! When I heard microwave gun, images of a funny laser gun that cooks food in a flash popped into my head. The Russians are developing a microwave gun that doesn't cook food, but actually disables drones and missiles.

The microwave gun is equipped with a heavy duty relativistic generator and reflector antenna, management and control system, and transmission system that gives whatever it's attached to a complete, 360-degree bubble of protection. The Russians are aiming this technology at drones and unmanned aircraft and missiles that rely heavily on radio frequencies.

These radio-controlled military tools would be rendered useless after the Russian microwave gun stuns it and would no longer be able to take video, photo or audio surveillance. They would not be able to communicate with the drone operators on U.S. military bases as well.

The United States military is also developing its own type of microwave technology. The one big difference between our microwave technology and theirs is the direction in which the weapon is aimed. While Russia plans to aim this disarming weapon at drones in the sky, the U.S. is planning to use microwave weapons to knock out electronics in buildings and houses on the ground.

With the new microwave technology being aimed at objects in the sky, it turns the drones into a directionless missile dropping projectiles that are bound to injure or kill someone on the ground.

What do you think about this new type of disarming weapon?  I think it's really interesting but I'm curious how you feel. Is it safe to use this in the air or on the ground or is it just a deadly accident waiting to happen? Let me know by commenting below.
