Your Facebook is about to get WAY more fun … or annoying

If there's one thing Facebook is known for, besides privacy concerns, it's change. Just when you get used to the way Facebook has the News Feed set up, your privacy settings, or anything else, it changes.

Prepare for another change to your News Feed. Facebook has announced it will start supporting a particular type of file. You're either going to love this or hate it.

That file format is GIF images. If you aren't familiar with the term, you might know these as animated images. They're like a very short videos that loop endlessly, sometimes of cartoons and sometimes taken from movies, TV shows or YouTube videos. Or they feature cats.

People typically use GIFs online to humorously share news, and as responses to situations or something someone has said.

For example, if you're having computer trouble, you might post:

Or if you're feeling dance-y:

You get the idea. You can find GIFs by searching Google. Just be careful because there are a lot of racy and offensive ones out there.

Once you find one you like, click on it and then click the View Image button. Copy the link from the address bar to a Facebook post, email or wherever.

Are you looking forward to seeing your friends and family post GIFs in your Facebook News Feed? Are you going to give it a try? Let me know in the comments.
