Google is launching an ambitious project that could literally change how your home operates. They call it Project Brillo, but it is way more high tech than the pot scrubber it’s named for. This could be one of the most important things Google has ever attempted.
Internet of Things, meet Google. The tech super giant is throwing its hat into the smart home arena with this mysterious new venture. Project Brillo aims to connect all of the smart gadgets in your home through an Android smartphone.
“We hope we can connect devices in a seamless and intuitive way to make them work better for users,” Google Android boss Sundar Pichai said of Project Brillo’s mission.
Thanks to the Internet of Things, you can already buy self-dimming lightbulbs, smart thermostats and all sorts of other cool gadgets that will turn your house into a smart home. But, right now many of these appliances don't always play nicely with one another because they're made by different manufacturers and controlled by a multitude of various apps. Google is trying to change that.
