What does your Facebook profile say about you? A lot more than you may realize, actually. Research published in the journal of Personality and Individual Differences shows that what you post on the social network can have some strong clues about your personality type.

In a study of 555 Facebook users, the researchers found that extroverts more frequently update about their social activities and everyday life.

The study also found that narcissists reported receiving more likes and comments than others and are more likely to post about things they've accomplished like diets or working out. The researchers also stated that these narcissists may embellish the amount of likes and comments they receive

Neurotic users are likely to use Facebook to seek out attention and support, because those things may be missing in their everyday lives.

Facebook users with open personalities write intellectual status updates. On the other hand, people with low self esteem will talk about relationships or use Facebook to address more personal information.

“People with low self-esteem are more likely to see the advantages of self-disclosing on Facebook rather than in person,” the study authors say. “But because their status updates tend to express more negative and less positive affect, they tend to be perceived as less likable.”

What about you? What do you think your Facebook posts say about you? Please let me know in the comments below.
