You hear horror stories all the time about surgeons accidentally dropping tools or other odds and ends inside a patient on the operating table and then sewing them shut. But I've never heard of anything so wild as what one surgeon allegedly dropped inside this woman: his smartphone.
Unbelievable. A gynecologist in Jordan was performing a cesarian section on a woman in April. After giving birth to a baby boy and being discharged from the hospital, the victim's family noticed the new mother's belly was vibrating.
“My daughter suffered serious pains and could not move. I brought her back to the hospital where she was treated but nothing was done for her,” the [victim's] mother was quoted as saying.
The victim was then admitted to another hospital where X-rays were taken and revealed there was indeed a phone inside her abdomen. She then underwent another surgery to have it removed.
Since the incident went viral, Salim Al Bataynah, a member of Parliament has asked the Jordanian government to resign as a result.
He said: "In countries which show respect to their nations, and following such scandals, governments usually resign. The parliament should show responsibility and be on the level of the case."
