It's the hottest new tech on the market right now, but there's still a lot of confusion about where and when it's safe to use it. Can you guess what I'm talking about?
Drones of course! Quite a few people have gotten in trouble recently for flying their drones in unauthorized areas. Some have even faced the threat of jail time!
So before you take your drone to the skies, you'll want to be sure you know the no-fly zones so you don't get yourself in a sticky situation. Wouldn't you know it, there's an app for that.
It's called B4UFLY and it gives drone pilots a simple yes or no answer based on location.
The FAA's Michael Huerta said in a public announcement:
“We need to make sure hobbyists and modelers know where it’s okay to fly and where it isn’t okay to fly, because there can be very real consequences if you don’t. ... The incident on the White House lawn earlier this year is a good example.”
The app will be beta tested by Apple users this summer, while the app for Android will come after. Stay tuned to my Happening Now page for the latest news as it breaks.
