Typing is an essential skill for just about any job these days along with many hobbies. But even after years of use and practice, many people could still improve their typing skills significantly. Maybe that's because breaking bad typing habits and instilling the discipline to type better really isn't much fun.
Fortunately, as Mary Poppins says, "In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You find the fun, and - SNAP - the job's a game!" In this case, that's literally true.
I found this basic game called Z-Type that very similar to the classics "Space Invaders" or "Asteroids." However, instead of pressing a button to shoot, you have to type words.
Once you start typing a word you must finish it. Every correct letter fires off a shot and every typo mistake lets the enemy get closer. You can only take one hit before you're destroyed. When you die, it helpfully tells you your accuracy and typing rate.
The early levels aren't so hard, but in the higher levels the big ships will launch more ships, so target those first. Progress in the game even higher and your enemy will launch 10 or more single-letter missiles. You better know which keys are the correct letters and type fast if you want to survive in the game!
The music gets a little repetitive after a bit, but you can turn it off from the main menu screen. Otherwise, enjoy blasting baddies while polishing your typing skills.
