Alzheimer's is a truly tragic disease, and caretakers must stay vigilant every day to care for their loved ones and make sure they stay safe. That task can be extremely difficult, especially if your family member wanders off. That's why I think this new tool so great. It makes it easier than ever to track down your loved one in an emergency situation.
This fantastic new gadget is called iTraq. It debuted on the Indiegogo crowdfunding website and has already raked in over $270,000 from thousands of backers. The gadget is the size of a credit card and can fit in a pocket, backpack or attach to a lanyard.
Instead of GPS, iTraq uses cell towers to locate the devices, which means it can be tracked over really far distances -- which is very important if someone has decided to hop on a bus or get in a car.
You can even set up a geofence and receive notifications if your loved one leaves your pre-designated area.
