There are overprotective parents and then there is THIS. If you are a parent of younger children, you know how difficult it can be to let them out of your sight as they head off to school every morning. But you know that sooner or later you finally have to let them go on their own.
Now as a daughter, myself, I completely understand how dads can be particularly protective of their little girls. But I'm pretty thankful that I grew up in the dark ages before smartphones, GPS and other technology some parents use to track their children. However, this is the story of a dad who takes tracking his child to entirely new heights, literally!
Being dubbed "The World's Most Embarrassing Dad" by TIME, Chris Early of Knoxville, Tennessee, was concerned when his 8-year-old daughter requested to walk to school all by herself. Early told WVLT in Knoxville:
"She said you're not going to come watch me, but I had another idea."
Trying to be a good dad and making use of the tech gadgets he had at his disposal, Early decided to follow his daughter while she walked to school. But rather than the time-tested parental spying versions of following a safe distance behind on foot or even by car, Chris did something completely different. He launched his camera-equipped DJI Phantom 2 quad copter drone to keep an eye-in-the-sky over his 3rd grader.
"It was something kind of fun to do just to let her know I'm watching her and stuff like that," he says. "But, it's not something I'm going to be doing every day."
