For as long as there has been the Internet, there have been people who seek attention by doing dumb things on it. The latest social media trends just seem to prove that point. Need evidence? There's the cinnamon challenge, the fire challenge, five finger fillet, ghost riding, swatting and more. Click here for the complete list of dangerous games the kids play online that you don't know about.
Now, there's another trend that has me shaking my head. The Ice Bucket Challenge and the Harlem Shake were mostly harmless. But this trend could actually seriously damage kids' faces.
I'm sure you've heard at least something in the media about Kylie Jenner. She's the youngest sister in the Kardashian clan and is a pretty big reality TV star and model, famous for her full lips.
Since emerging on Twitter Sunday night, thousands of teens have been taking the #KylieJennerChallenge and it works like this: you stick your lips inside a shot glass or something similar and begin sucking as hard as possible. When you're done with the process, you are supposed to have full, pouty lips just like Jenner.
Only, you guessed it, that's not the case. Taking the #KylieJennerChallenge could prove to be disastrous. Lips will swell, can turn blue, go numb and can cause severe and permanent damage, not to mention, you don't look anything like Jenner. You're more likely to look like someone who had plastic surgery go horribly wrong.
Cosmetic surgeon Pordiis Kjartansdottir told the U.K.’s Metro:
“The lips turn blue because blood fills up and they could easily become infected and lose all sensation. It is a really dangerous stunt and I’d advise strongly against anybody trying it.”
Click through to the next page to see some of the tweets to get a full feel of just how painful and ridiculous the #KylieJennerChallenge is. But don't say I didn't warn you. Some of the photos are disturbing and are very cringe-worthy.
