For all the incredible advancements in speed, displays, connectivity and capabilities of our smartphones, tablets and laptops, there is still one critical Achilles Heel that holds them back. Of course, I'm talking about battery life. Improving battery longevity is the Holy Grail for most major tech companies. Because as so many of us have personally experienced, when your battery runs out, even the fanciest, most powerful mobile gadget is nothing but a paperweight.
The most obvious example of this is what you see so frequently around airport gate waiting areas. Just think of how many times you see passengers crowded around the one power plug, often sitting on the floor, desperately squeezing in a few minutes of gadget charging before departing on their flights. What could make grown men and in women in suits and dresses camp out on a filthy floor? Nothing more than a dead battery! By the way, check out the end of this article for a great alternative to sitting on the dirty floor.
That's why you want your laptop, tablet and smartphone to have a long-lasting battery. Sure there are tips and tricks you can use to extend battery life, but it helps when your gadget is built from the ground up with a longer-lasting battery.
With that thought in mind, Consumer Reports has collected data and crunched the numbers and has made an interesting list of nine laptops, tablets and smartphones with battery life that outlasts the competition. Some of the results may surprise you!
