Alright you American history buffs: Do you know what day it is today? I'll give you a hint: If we lived in the 19th century, you'd probably be getting your Komando newsletters this way.
Give up? Today marks the 155th anniversary of the very first letter delivered by The Pony Express. Founded in 1860 by William H. Russell, Alexander Majors & William B Waddell, The Pony Express gave America a way to communicate with the other side of the country. The Pony Express delivered letters from coast to coast after many moved west during the Gold Rush.
Back then, it took around 10 days to successfully deliver a letter from coast to coast. My, how things have changes since then. Now sending a message takes about 10 nano-seconds to be delivered!
To celebrate this auspicious anniversary, you can play a fun little game on Google. Just head to the Google home page and click on the Doodle. Here, you can jump on your horse and ride like the wind! Just use the arrow keys to navigate your rider through the course and don't forget to pick up letters along the way. Be sure to avoid obstacles like cactuses, too. But most importantly, have fun!
Want more fun from Google? Since its creation in 1998, Google has had fun with its logo. The alternative versions, called Doodles, replace the normal logo for special days and events.
Over the years, Google's special doodle team has created more than 1,000 doodles. These can be simple images or interactive drawings and games. Because I absolutely love Google's collection of gaming Doodles, I've rounded up my all-time favorites for you to enjoy! Click here to check them out!
