Staying motivated to complete your goals can be tough. Especially with constant distractions like Facebook and Netflix getting in the way. That's why one designer came up with a strange little gadget that she thinks will boost productivity and train you for success.
"The problem with most habits is delayed gratification," [creator Kayla] Matheus told The Huffington Post during a recent interview at 30 Weeks' New York City office. "MOTI celebrates with you."
Matheus' MOTI gadget is a tiny orb that flashes colors and vibrates to motivate you throughout the day. Matheus designed it at the 30 Weeks incubator to help you develop good habits by motivating you to get off the couch and then giving you a tangible reward when you complete your tasks. It can also provide negative reinforcement if you ignore your goals.
MOTI can motivate you to complete any task, from jogging every day to finishing a report for work. Users are supposed to place MOTI in an open area like a table or desk where they can see it all day. Just press the button on its "face" to let it know you've started your task.
Once you complete your task, MOTI will flash fun colors, chirp and vibrate to positively reinforce your routine. But, if you ignore MOTI, it will flash red.
This shows the way MOTI will flash red if you ignore it.
MOTI is currently in the beta-testing phase. If you want to get your hands on a MOTI, you're going to have to wait until later this year. It will likely go into production sometime this summer.
