The new Apple MacBook is a really thin laptop, but it has nothing on this tiny computer from the University of Michigan. This little machine is called Michigan Micro Mote, or M^3, and it fits on the edge of a nickel with room to spare!

And, if that's not cool enough, the team at the University of Michigan isn't done yet. It's planning to push forward and make even smaller computers that it calls smart dust.

The M^3 is tiny, but it wasn't easy to make. Students and professors in the university's computer science department worked on the tiny computer for over a decade. And, it's not just a gimmick. The computer has real power.
