Ever since 3-D printing hit the mainstream, there's been a lot of controversy over the ability to create untraceable firearms with the gadgets. Well, that debate isn't going to go away anytime soon, because more and more folks are pushing the limits of what they can create with a 3-D printer. Recently, a member of the PrintedFirearm.com website was able to create the first ever 3-D printed lower receiver for a Colt CM901 rifle using a $500 3-D printer.
“This is the FIRST EVER 3d Printed AR-10 (CM901/LE901) lower receiver by JT,” reads a blog post on PrintedFirearm.com. “OH YES WE DID!!!!!!! Yes people its pure awesome sauce and it has been tested, fired with little to no issues.”
The CM901 has a similar design to the popular AR-15 rifle, but it can fire a heavier round and has more stopping power. The website posted a GIF of the gun in action, and the bright blue plastic-like receiver definitely stands out from the rest of the gun.
