Ever since Google Fiber began to roll out in cities across the country, other Internet Service Providers have been scrambling to match its speeds so that customers wouldn't leave them for Google's super-fast service. Now, Comcast has one-upped Google by announcing it will offer speeds twice as fast as Fiber in Atlanta later this year.
Currently, Google offers customers speeds up to 1 gigabit per second in Provo, Utah; Austin, Texas; Kansas City, Missouri and surrounding areas. It has plans to expand that service to five locations, including Atlanta, in the near future.
But, when Google unveils Fiber in Atlanta, it won't be the only super-fast game in town. That's because Comcast is going to begin offering Pro service with up to 2-gigabit-per-second speeds to select customers in the city next month in May.
Comcast claims that will be the fastest residential Internet speed in the country.
