Remember when all of our Facebook News Feeds were clogged up with videos of our friends dumping ice water on their heads during the Ice Bucket Challenge craze? There could be a lot more where that came from. That's because Facebook has developed an app to encourage users to create their own collaborative viral videos.
“Before, my News Feed was always full of mostly photos and text and links,” [Facebook employee Josh] Miller told BuzzFeed News. “The Ice Bucket Challenge wasn’t just broadcasting; it was people getting nominated by friends and feeling of people making something together.”
That's when he came up with the idea for Riff, an app that makes it easy for people to make funny videos and invite their friends to join in. He and other employees at Facebook's Creative Labs created the app to help folks turn their funny ideas into bona fide viral hits.
