You've heard it in every iconic cop movie and tv series, and in every game of chase with kids playing cops and robbers. You may have even used it yourself. It's the word, "Freeze!" and in the case of the police, it's usually accompanied by a show of force.

Police use of firearms has been all over every news channel and website over the last year. A lot of this coverage fails to note that officers regularly train to make the right decisions in a split-second out on the street.

In some states, "officers are required to requalify for the police force twice a year by testing their shooting accuracy on a gun range." Unfortunately, this doesn't test the decision-making skills or training necessary to make the split-second choice to use deadly force.
