Tell me if this has ever happened to you. You finally set aside time to catch up on laundry, start the machine and pile in the dirty clothes only to find your detergent bottle is down to the last few drops. It is then, with a machine full of soggy laundry, that you suddenly recall nearly running out of soap the last time you used your washing machine.
But what if you could instantly order more detergent as soon as you noticed you were running low? Would you pass up the grocery store detergent aisle to have your laundry soap delivered right to your door?
Amazon's R&D department seems to think so. If you receive an invitation to the company's newest physical product, then all that you'll have to do to order more laundry detergent is to press a single button.
The product is called Amazon Dash. It's a small button that connects to your Wi-Fi. Whenever you run out of something like laundry detergent, all that you have to do to order more is press the Dash button.
Here's how it works according to Amazon:
Use the Amazon app on your smartphone to easily connect to your home Wi-Fi network and select the product you want to reorder with Dash Button. Once connected, a single press automatically places your order. Amazon sends an order alert to your phone, so it's easy to cancel if you change your mind. Unless you elect otherwise, Dash Button responds only to your first press until your order is delivered.
