Thanks to advancements in artificial technology, we can now access advanced translators for just about every language on earth right from a computer, smartphone or tablet. But, how do these tools stand up to the real thing? Are they an effective replacement for human translators or just a subpar imitation?

To answer that question, translator service Verbal Ink decided to match up one of its best Spanish-language translators against Google's translation tool. The competition required both participants to translate audio and written material from Spanish into English. Another translation expert served as the judge.

This test focused on several key elements that are vital to producing an accurate translation from one language to another, including cultural idioms, grammar, and comprehension. Additionally, general strengths and weaknesses were given gravity in this assessment as well.

So, who won? Verbal Ink compiled the results in a detailed infographic.
