Could watching "Orange is the New Black" land you in the slammer? Not likely, but it could happen, especially after the streaming service helped nab a burglary suspect. We've seen plenty of dumb criminals get busted all thanks to Facebook, but this could be a first for Netflix.
On March 4, a woman in California called police to report several stolen items from her home including her smart TV, laptop computer, surround sound system, Blu-ray player and some other miscellaneous items. Police had no leads until a few days later when the woman noticed that movies were being watched on her Netflix account and she wasn't the one watching them.
That's when police tracked the IP address and were taken to the home of 20-year-old Bobby Alexander. There they found the stolen items and charged Alexander with burglary. His bail is set at $75,000.
