As a parent, I know that sometimes you have to take away your kids' gadgets if they're misbehaving or slacking on their homework. A mother in Colorado used this common punishment with her 12-year-old, but then her daughter did the unthinkable. In an attempt to get back at her mom, the young girl tried to poison her twice with bleach.
The woman first became sick on March 2 when the daughter poured bleach into her mother's morning smoothie. Less than a week later, the mother noticed that a container of drinking water in her bedroom smelled like bleach. The mother eventually had to go to the hospital, where she called police.
At that point, the girl told her mom she wanted to kill her for taking away her iPhone, police said.
The girl is currently in detention at the Boulder County Juvenile Center. She has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, but the district attorney is still investigating the case.
“She had pre-planned this a couple different times,” said [Sgt. Bill ] Crist, speaking about the pre-teen’s actions. He added that the mother has since recovered and is out of the hospital.
