Real-life Iron Man Elon Musk is a busy man. He has already brought us Tesla electric cars, PayPal, SpaceX, the original concept for Solar City and the hyperloop. He's also made some bold predictions about the future in the last year, such as "creating artificial intelligence is summoning the demon," and has come up with some creative ideas surrounding jet planes.
Now, he's taking on driverless cars and this might be his boldest prediction yet. He claims that human driving is simply too dangerous and thinks that in the next few years, human drivers will be illegal. Yes, you read that right: Illegal.
Musk told the the NVIDIA GPU conference:
People may outlaw driving cars because it's too dangerous. ... You can't have a person driving a two-ton death machine.
It’s like an elevator, he said. There used to be elevator operators, and we developed some simple circuitry … The car is going to be just like that.
