Earlier this month, I showed you an epic picture of a weasel riding a woodpecker. In case you missed it:
The Internet had a lot of fun with that image, but game developer 4DX decided to go beyond slapping on some funny words. No, it made the image into a game app.
The simply named "Weasel Woodpecker," sets you as the weasel with the goal of jumping on the woodpecker and hanging on while you collect acorns from treetops. Sounds simple enough.
Except it isn't.
The gameplay is a mix of Angry Birds and Flappy Bird. Just to get on the woodpecker's back requires an Angry Birds-style launch at the right angle and speed to intercept the woodpecker in flight.
Then once you figure that out, you tap and hold the screen to make the woodpecker fly up and let go to have it drop. However, the woodpecker falls faster than you might expect from a bird.
If you can make it to the end of the level (a big if) you then have to dismount correctly to finish. This requires getting your angle and trajectory just right to leap off the woodpecker and hit a small bit of land.
Then you get to do it all over again on the next level. However, I would get used to seeing this screen for a while:
I actually think training a weasel to ride a woodpecker would be easier. Still, you have to give 4DX credit for putting the game together in just 9 days. And it is just as addicting as it is annoying.
For now, it's only available on Android (Free), but an iPhone version is supposed to be coming next week. Just be sure you have a good case on your phone in case you decide to throw it against the wall.
So, did you give it a try? Let me know how it went in the comments below.
