Facebook just surprised me. The company announced the launch of a collaboration with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Now Matters Now, Save.org and Forefront: Innovations in Suicide Prevention.
The results of that collaboration are tools for friends to report posts from their friends that they suspect to be suicidal. It's a reminder that Facebook isn't just a place for cat pictures. The site is a route for self-expression that can also be a valuable resource to catch depression before it grows.
If you see someone that you believe to be having a hard time, you can report their post.
After doing so, this is what you'll see.
What happens after seeing this screen could save lives.
