Wait until you get a load of Ford's latest vehicle designed specifically for law enforcement. The carmaker is introducing the new Police Interceptor Utility at the Chicago Auto Show, and it's both mean looking and packed with powerful features that will help our men and women in uniform keep our streets safe.
The new Interceptor Utility looks cool on the surface, but it's what's under the hood that really counts. For example, the vehicle's transmission will automatically switch from fuel-saving mode to Pursuit Mode when an officer starts driving aggressively. That should help them catch up to criminals on the run.
“From the heavy-duty suspension and powertrain offerings, to the unique steering and transmission calibrations, Ford Police Interceptor Utility is built to provide any law enforcement agency a vehicle ready to meet extremely demanding needs,” Arie Groeneveld, the vehicle’s chief engineer, said in a statement.
The Police Interceptor Utility is also specifically tuned to help officers maneuver in tough situations, so they 'easily perform a "reverse J-turn," a 180-degree spin maneuver that civilians might recognize from the 1970s TV show, 'The Rockford Files.' "
