If you've never visited Phoenix, Arizona, or you've only seen pictures on the news when a massive dust storm rolls in, you're forgiven for thinking it's a small group of people eking out a meager existence in the middle of the desert.
In actual fact, there are more than 4 million people living in the Phoenix metro area, and some big name companies either have headquarters or a major presence here. Some names you'll recognize are Intel, GoDaddy, University of Phoenix, PetSmart, U-Haul, Honeywell and The Kim Komando Show, just to name a few. And now we're getting one the biggest names yet.
I'm sure you've heard of Apple, which makes a few somewhat popular gadgets like the iPhone, iPad and Mac computer. It has data centers around the world that power iTunes, iCloud, Siri and its other online services.
To help support its growth, Apple is building a brand new data center just down the road from me. And it's going to be a big one.
