Random acts of kindness are the best, and I've found a story that will restore your faith in humanity.

Sammie Welch, a 23-year old mother, was traveling via train with her 3-year-old son when she was handed a note, a 5-pound note, and the surprise of a lifetime.

Welch was so taken aback by the note that she's now using Facebook to track down her secret admirer, in order to give him proper thanks in person.

kindness

Her post reads:

I am asking my friends, family and people I don't no [sic] to PLEASE SHARE THIS!!!

I was on the train from Birmingham to Plymouth (Thursday 22nd Jan) (around 7-8pm) and a gentleman handed me a note as he got off the station at Bristol Parkway(orTempleMeads) I never had the chance to thank him as he got off and I couldn't move due to my son being asleep on me and a man sat next to me.

I would LOVE to have the opportunity to thank this man personally. He may not have Facebook but please please share this!!! I want to thank him for his kindness!!!!

Thank you cxx

The note reads:

Have a drink on me . You are a credit to your generation

Polite and teaching the little boy good manners.

PS I have a daughter your age, someone did the same for her once. Hope when she has children she is as good a mother as you.

Have a lovely evening.

She later went on to tell the Guardian:

“People look at you and judge you every day when you’re a single mum but getting that note made me feel special and proud. That might sound silly, but all I’m trying to do is make a better life for my son."
